Leading innovation in sustainable food-on-the-move packaging, Coveris is set to showcase its newest forward-thinking developments at lunch! show in September. Focussing new packaging development on recyclability and sustainable sourcing aligned with their No Waste strategy, Coveris combines environmental responsibility with the latest trends in food-on-the-go.
Bringing together the food-to-go industry once again, lunch! takes place on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th September 2021 at ExCeL London. Here’s a preview of Coveris’ packaging to look out for at the event including two brand new launches.
Innovation in monomaterial packaging
Launching at lunch!, the newest addition to Coveris‘ award-winning sandwich skillet range is the monomaterial RecyclaPaper. RecyclaPaper is a fully paper-based, sustainably sourced and recyclable sandwich skillet featuring a translucent window enabling good consumer product visibility. Offering an alternative to plastic-lined skillets, RecylaPaper’s window is paper-based and using the latest paper monomaterial technology, delivers the same product protection and shelf life.
Designed for recyclability
Delivering innovation through collaboration, Coveris and iPac have teamed up to create icard trays, also launching at lunch! 2021. Designed for recyclability and premium shelf appeal, icard trays combine a thin, inner rPET tray liner containing up to 100% recycled content with an outer, fully printable cartonboard tray. Connected using no laminates or adhesive, icard trays are easily separable for recycling and compatible with lidding film including MAP options for optimised product shelf life. Delivering a solution that is sustainable in sourcing and responsible in design, icard trays are ideal for chilled, convenience and on-the-go foods. icard tray has been announced as a finalist in the UK Packaging Awards 2021 and features in the lunch! Innovation Challenge.
Lightweight and award-winning
Awarded Cartonboard Pack of the Year in the UK Packaging Awards 2020, Coveris’ RecyclaLite packaging is lightweight and easy to recycle, featuring 40% less plastic. Achieving a reduced carbon footprint, Coveris has expanded the innovative and industry leading RecyclaLite range to include wrap boxes, having previously launched for sandwich skillets. RecyclaLite packaging uses sustainability sourced board and is recyclable under OPRL 2020 and 2023 recycling rules for lined board packaging.
Michael Conway, Food-on-the-Move Sales Director at Coveris said, “We are delighted to see the return of lunch! and look forward to reuniting with the industry next week. Food-to-go is a category of dynamic innovation at Coveris, and we are excited to use lunch! as a platform to launch two new products, RecyclaPaper and icard tray. Aligned with Coveris’ vision of No Waste, we continue to focus on sustainable packaging development, supporting our customers and the industry with responsible and forward-thinking innovation.”
