Coveris has been recognised with a highly prestigious Horners Bottlemaker Awards 2022 for its monomaterial packaging innovation, MonoFlexBE.
A first-of-its-kind, fully recyclable barrier monolaminate, Coveris’ MonoFlexBE grated cheese pouches are a significant development for UK retail cheese category. The launch has enabled retailers to switch to a fully recyclable packaging material, maintain shelf-life requirements and where possible, achieve pack weight savings, aligned with Coveris’ sustainability vision No Waste. At the time of the award announcement, Coveris’ MonoFlexBE grated cheese pouches were launched in Tesco, Iceland and Sainsbury’s, and now extended to a two further retailers.
Coveris was formally presented with its award at the Horners Annual Banquet at The Mansion House, London on Wednesday 5th October. The Horners Bottlemakers Award, jointly run by the British Plastics Federation and the Worshipful Company of Horners, was presented in recognition of Coveris’ innovation as a shining example of how technical developments in plastics support a move towards the circular economy.
