Coveris increases its production capacity for stretch and shrink hoods made from recycled materials

Coveris is moving ahead with a major investment programme to modernise its site in Montfaucon, France. With the recent acquisition of a new state-of-the-art extruder, Coveris is improving its machinery and increasing productivity in the manufacture of shrink and stretch hoods for industrial applications.

Coveris, one of Europe's leading polyethylene extruders, is further expanding its offering with this new investment and is thus meeting the growing market demand for recyclable and recycled flexible packaging materials.

The Montfaucon site has undergone a real change over the last few months to accommodate this new machine. It allows Coveris to take a new step forward by modernising its fleet, increasing productivity and capacity and reducing its environmental footprint. Coveris is thereby able to offer its customers an optimised product range.

This new 5-layer coextrusion technology extruder allows the production of polyethylene shrink hoods and polyethylene stretch hoods including recycled materials (PCR - post consumer recycled plastic and/or PIR - post industrial recycled plastic).

This technology makes it possible to offer a standard or non-stick shrink hood with optimised thickness that can incorporate 50% or more recycled material.

This advanced extruder also offers a range of thin stretch hoods featuring 30% recycled content.

To meet the growing communication needs of our customers, this equipment also offers in-line printing, water-based ink, up to 2 colours on both sides, continuous or registered.

This new range of recyclable and recycled shrink hoods and stretch hoods from Coveris is in line with their vision of ‘No Waste’. Coveris’ sites in Winsford, UK, and Kufstein, Austria, also have the capabilities to produce stretch hood films incorporating recycled content, demonstrating the Group’s innovation expertise in developing industrial films across Europe for a more sustainable future.
