Coveris has been highly commended in the ‘Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year’ category at the UK’s flagship packaging event, the UK Packaging Awards.
Celebrating the very best in quality, innovation and talent in the packaging industry, the UK Packaging Awards took place on Thursday 7th November at London’s prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel.
Leading up to the event, Coveris was shortlisted as a finalist in five awards: Company of the Year, Investment Project of the Year and the Cartonboard, Flexible Plastic and Label categories. In front of an audience of over 800 people from the packaging supply chain, Coveris was highly commended in Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year for its recyclable, OPRL-compliant PE+ flexible films for retail packaging.
Developed using Coveris’ innovative expertise and capabilities in co-extrusion and shelf life technology, PE+ delivers a recyclable solution for VFFS and flow wrap retail packaging with high performance, functional and shelf-life benefits as an alternative to other not yet recyclable plastics in the UK infrastructure such as OPP. PE+ launched in a first-to-market OPRL-compliant microwaveable format for Co-op’s prepared vegetable packs supplied by Freshtime and selected Tesco produce lines.
Coveris was also a finalist in the following categories:
- Company of the Year
- Cartonboard Pack of the Year: PAVE d’affinois Luxury Cheese Advent Calendar
- Investment Project of the Year: Pack Positive® Centre
- Label of the Year: IC Frozen Cocktails
